Hey Internet: It’s time for me to take an indefinitely long summer vacation from This Here’s Overrated. Even though the weather this Memorial Day is bad, pretty soon Chicago’s going to heat back up and I’m going to be hard at work on my dissertation or out enjoying the city. I hope the lack of updates to this site won’t leave too big a whole in your lives. The important thing is to keep supporting Chicago rappers and restaurants.
Thanks to everyone who read the site, wrote about it, gave me love on Twitter, made the music and videos that I was able to post, and cooked up the food that fuels the city.
Maybe I’ll reignite the embers of This Here’s Overrated at some point, but for now it’s time to give it a rest. It’s been fun, y’all.

Golden Nugget Pancake House, 2406 W. Diversey Ave.; Taqueria Los Comales, 2148 N. Milwaukee Ave.; CornerStone Café, 2753 N. Western Ave.; Lee’s Chop Suey, 2415 W. Diversey Ave.
This was a tough one to figure out, because of the location switch. SYS heads to Golden Nugget after finishing a concert on Milwaukee, where he passes Los Comales. On the way to the Nugget from his car, he passes the other establishments at the Diversey/Western/Elston intersection.
For the record, I have only gotten excellent service at that location of the Golden Nugget, as I have at every location of theirs I’ve visited in Chicago.
The Beetle Bar and Grill, 2532 W. Chicago Ave; Peking Mandarin Restaurant, 3459 W. Lawrence Ave.; Bin Wine Cafe (Closed), 1559 N. Milwaukee Ave.; Earwax Cafe (Closed), 1561 N. Milwaukee Ave.; Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, 1557 N. Milwaukee Ave.
For some reason, figuring out the location where the dude buys the chain in Albany Park took me forever, but Peking Mandarin shows up in the background in that scene.
